Grey necked bunting


Common Name: Grey-necked bunting
Scientific name: Emberiza buchanani.
Discription : 15 cm, Pinkish-orange bill, Plain head and prominent white eye-ring, Adult has blue-grey head, buffish submoustachial stipe and throat and rusty under parts.
Habitat : Dry rocky and bushy slopes and grass lands.
Breeding : Baluchistan, South-Central Asia.
Winter Visitor to: Pakistan, Central and West India.
Sighting record: Southern most sighting in Daroji Bear Sanctuary and Hampi vicinity. Sighted with Prof.Subbu on 25-11-2007 and regularly sighting the birds around this area.
